Economy of Lytton

Lytton is a community located 3 hours east of Vancouver on the Trans-Canada Highway.  Its economy is diverse ranging from opportunities and investments in tourism, cultural heritage, agriculture, energy, natural resources, transportation, and community services.

Year-round employment is available at government offices, schools, the Canadian National and Canadian Pacific railways, the Kwoiek Creek Power Project, St. Bartholomew’s Health Centre, Lytton’s local RCMP detachment as well as jobs in the fields of hospitality, highway maintenance and social services.

St. Bartholomew’s Health Centre is the medical clinic downtown on Main Street that also offers emergency on-call care during evenings and weekends.  In the same building complex there is a pharmacy and Spintlum Lodge, an assisted-living facility operated by Interior Health.

Seasonal opportunities peak in the summer with nearby organic farms, wildfire management crews, in addition to whitewater rafting and tourism businesses.

The top employers in town include The Village of Lytton, School District #74 (in Lytton) and Kumsheen Rafting Resort.

The nearest commercial airports are Kamloops Airport in the interior and Abbotsford International Airport towards the coast.
